Honestly, I love Gaby and Allison. I watch their show, and I was super excited to support them by buying this book. I really wanted to love it, but I didn't. I feel like so much of the story is missing because it's written exclusively through texts, web chats and emails. It seemed like it was just a book about the Just Between Us characters but in teenage/coming-of-age style, which was kind of disappointing. There were also loads of high-brow terms that might not be known to everyone, which I guess fit the character, but might be annoying to the reader. As a queer woman of colour I know quite a bit about concepts like white privilege and heteronormativity etc, but I felt they were thrown around too often without providing information/further explanation for those that might not know what they mean, which was kind of shitty. I also really dislike the way it was designed. The icons were pretty bad. Some of the writing was pretty funny though, and it was interesting to read about the girls' lives.

I hadn't literally laughed out loud while reading on public transport ever but this book changed this. The characters are so witty, I loved them. I love the texts-and-emails-only format. I loved the jokes, I loved the serious parts. I loved the representation, the way societal problems were discussed and how they were handled by the characters in a very realistic manner for people in their late teen years.I loved everything about this book and I can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a light-hearted read that doesn't shy away from the serious stuff and handles it well.
